Embrace Your Inner Awesomeness

So, have you ever sat back and wondered what you can do with all of the awesomeness you have?  Ever wanted a way to give back to the community?  Looking for a way to be pushed physically and mentally?  Want to have all of these while being rewarded with great new friendships, good times and the best 'you' possible?

Well, come on out and join Rocktown this Thursday at Funky's Skate Center while we have a Fresh Meat Meet and Greet.  Get to know some of your favorite ladies and meet a few great zebras (refs) while you are at it.  Get to know a few of the details and see us scrimmage against one another at the end, just in case you've never seen a bout =)

And food, did I mention that there will be munchies?! Some of us derby girls love munchies and such.  So we will be providing you with munchies and new friends and a "show" at the end.  I mean really, what more could you ask for of a Thursday evening?  Tell your friends, come on out and learn a little more about us and what you can do to be involved.

this much epic awesomeness, just come on out and join us.

Bout Two of 2013 Preparations

We are one week and one day out from our next bout of the 2013 season.  The ladies and gents of Rocktown have been training hard on and off the track in preparation for this and all future bouts.  We are seeing such amazing things from everyone that it is hard to imagine that this is practically a "new team" with all the changes we've had during the off season.
Five thirty am Crossfit workouts by some, running in the rain and snow for others, not to mention all of the grueling practices that training has concocted for us and we can honestly say "WE ARE READY!"  Beast mode is on, game faces are ready and boutfits are coming together.  In the mean time, we are living it up and have fun as well.

Rocktown had two groups enter the Bowl for Kids Sake in Harrisonburg today.  To say it was fun would be an understatement.  It was a blast of epic proportions, including a 5 strike streak by Smashley Wheel'ams!

Revenga D'Nerd is practicing her game face as Team Afro took on Team Evil.

GiggleHertz is ready with her normal happy smile.  And even did a cartwheel for us after her strike!

And celebratory dancing/hugs and screenshot after Smash's five strikes

So from training to playing, exercising to volunteering Rocktown is ready to head to Pennsylvania on the 24th and and show them what being a Roller is all about.

Season Opener

Well, this past week has been a great one, but I'm glad it's over!   We had our first bout of the season, and at home no less.  We followed it up with a Derbyversary party at the Artful Dodger complete with Rocktown's own version of cupcake wars and a few raffles.

Rocktown fought a hard game against the New River Valley Roller Girls.  Both teams showcased some new faces and old favorites and all took it to the track and laid it out there.

Final Score
NRV 224
RTR 189

And of course once all the hard work of playing is done, it's time to head to the Dodger and party it up Rocktown style!  This was no ordinary afterparty though, this was Derbyversary.  So we had to party big and have a few special things to top it all off.

Like how about Cupcake Wars Rocktown style!

Three teams of Rocktown skaters worked together to create cupcakes and displays for them for this event.  Each buy into the war got participants one cupcake from each display and a vote for their favorite.

Here Little Miss Meany and Rosie the Retaliator show off the cupcakes that showcase them

And what would a derby themed cupcake war be with out a track and bout replica out of cupcakes?

The winner of the Cupcake War was ...........................
the cupcake derby bout replica! Congratulations to Sun Tzu-Z, Ginger Crush, Doll Nightmare, Canadian Breakin' and Sanity Clawz for the win.

Next up was a raffle for a gorgeous diamond earring and necklace set donated to Rocktown by Rocky's Gold and Silver.  Our own Little Miss Meany was the winner of that raffle.  Lastly is our season long raffle, which means you can still get in on this, a quilt made for Rocktown.

This will be at all home bouts and events for Rocktown this season.  Be sure to get your tickets for your chance to go home and curl up with your own piece of the team!
