She's an Up and Coming Meat Locker!!!

Derby Name:  Hannibal Wrecked'er

Derby Number:  9

How did you choose your name and number:
I studied and fell in love with psychology in college, and I've been an avid reader and story listener for as long as I can remember (Thomas Harris is a favored author,) and I love Anthony Hopkins films.  The number is nine because the infamous Hannibal the Cannibal was Hannibal Lector VIII, so being ninth in line made sense.

When did you join derby:
Spring of 2013, so not too long ago.

Favorite derby memory:
My favorite derby memory so far is playing sock derby.  We played it at our first Derby 101 event with the new ladies.  It was beyond silly but so much fun!

How has derby positively effected you:
I know other people have mentioned that it's great for their confidence, and fitness - and I definitely agree with both points.  For me how I explain the effect derby has had on me has to do with breaking through my own walls.  Six months ago I could hardly stand on quad skates, but now I'm scrimmaging in practices.  Derby helps me prove to myself every day that i can do so much more than I ever thought possible, and I love every minute =)

Anything else we should know:
My great crazy dream is to get my doctorate and technically be Dr. Hannibal Wrecked'er because I'm passionate about being completely ridiculous.
*Hannibal has a hedgehog!
Who could argue with that?!

Derby Name: Long story, Vitamin V to Problem Child to a.k.a V

Derby Number: 101

How did you choose your name and number:
Soon after I had finished my minimum skills, Troch literally sent me a message to say that if I didn't give him my derby name in like five minutes that I was not going to be able to play in the upcoming game.  I was about to take a shower and so with a bottle of Pantene-Pro V shampoo in hand the identity Vitamin V was born.  With such rush I never felt quite settled into it... it never felt quite tough enough so I eventually changed to Problem Child, but it would seem it was too little too late because by that time everyone came to know me as "V" for short so I finally decided not to fight the inevitable and have assumed the name a.k.a V

When did you join derby:
OMG I am terrible with dates... I came to see Rocktown's first home bout (and my first ever as well) and I knew at that moment that it was a match made in derby heaven... I went to the very next practice opportunity and it has been happily ever after since

Favorite derby memory:

RTR vs CDD... final jam... is it over???  No, Troch calls a time out, one more jam... I'm in blocking with everything left in me.  CDD jammer cuts the track, Kilz is jamming her little RTR heart out... She is counting the score as she passes the opposition time and time again, I'm holding blockers back, Killz finally calls it off and RTR wins!!  I almost had an asthma attack, but instead broke into tears.  This was quite possibly the best feeling ever and will forever be hard to beat.  It felt so great to win and be part of such awesome fellow RTR gals and guys.

How has derby positively effected you:
I am definitely more physically fit, but the love and support that I have received through the good times and bad has been irreplaceable.  This
league of folks has become my family and opened my eyes to so many new things beyond derby that I can not imagine my life without.

Favorite quote:
"Be the change you want to see in the world," can't remember who said it first, but have loved it ever since Roxy shared her tattoo with me of it.

Anything else we should know:
I am a cupcake master... or should I say I aspire to be a cupcake master and I sometimes use unsuspecting souls as my new recipe guinea pigs... hehehehe

She's the right hand woman of evil....

Derby Name: Evilynn Tentions

Derby Number: 13

How did you choose your name and number:
I had a hard time deciding on a name, it seemed every one I found was taken or was similar to someone elses in the derbyverse.  So I was watching cartoons with my son one day and his favorite was He-Man, and Evil-Lyn is his right hand woman, so I took that and made it mine.
Thirteen has always been my favorite and lucky number, plus it normally signifies evil and doom and dread and all that good stuff

When did you join derby:
I began my derby adventure in April of 2011

How has derby positively affected you:
I have so much more confidence in myself now.  I have realized just how strong my body is and that I am emotionally tougher than I thought as well.
Derby has also given me some great friends, both on and off the track.  There is nothing like walking through the store and hearing "Hey Evilynn!"

What is your favorite derby memory:
It truly is hard to choose just one.  Hmm, proposing to Nitrous was a great day, I earned a fabulous wife that day.
Really, any time I get on the track with these ladies is awesome, whether it is practice or a bout I learn something and have great support.

Favorite quote:

"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort" ~ Herm Albright

"The place where optimism most flourishes is the lunatic asylum" ~ Havelock Ellis

Any other interesting tidbits:
I'm honestly rather shy, I am a control freak and have more OCD style habits than I care to admit, lol.
I will talk with anyone about derby!  Seriously, I think I can turn any conversation into a derby discussion.
Give me sunshine and a good book and you may not see me til dark =)

Just Because She's Smiling Doesn't Mean She's Not Plotting

Derby Name: GiggleHertz

Derby Number: 789

How did you choose your name and number:
I am a math and physics nerd!  I wanted my name to be related some physics; playing off gigahertz and the fact that I giggle... a lot!  I wanted a math joke for my number.  Why is 6 afraid of 7?? Me!!!

When did you join derby:
January 15, 2012

Favorite derby memory:
My favorite derby memory... I can't pick just one!
a) having my Mom and Dad at my first game!  I am so glad they were able to see me play... even if I wasn't entirely sure what was going on 100% of the time
b) all those moments when as a jammer there is a hole that I can escape through!  Especially if I get lead!

How has derby positively affected you:
Derby gives me confidence!  And showed me I'm not some wimpy girl.  Now when life pulls me down I just get right back up and keep on going.

Favorite quote:
"The biggest human temptation is to settle for too little" - Thomas Merton

Anything else we should know:
I LOVE CARTWHEELS!!!! =)
And I love having a derby family, these ladies are amazing and every time I get to skate with them makes me happy.
